Richness of Agriculture ~Blog Post #4~ April 19, 2015 by: Simone Guio

The overall diet in Poland is high in calories. Yet many of the basic food ingredients used in many meals are high in vitamins and minerals. Meat, which is a huge supplement towards everyday meals in Poland, is very healthy for you. It’s high in Vitamins, Iron, Zinc, Selenium, and others. Meat is also high in protein giving nutrition to your muscles and bones. Fish is another type of meat that is very popular in Polish cuisine. Fish has many omega-3 fatty acids that keep your heart and brain healthy. Grains are also used in everyday meals in Poland. Grains are healthy when it comes to lowering blood cholesterol and heart disease. They contain many vitamins and minerals important to an everyday diet. Many of these foods are also seen in the American diet. Yet, the American diet isn’t as healthy as the Polish diet. In Poland, they are rich in agriculture and produce their own food. Meats come from the animals on farms, grains come from their land, and fish comes from their freshwater lake. They create their meals with the raw materials that their land provides, giving them a more natural and healthier diet. American diet is very different. There are many states that do harvest their own crops and meat but many don’t eat natural food. Processed food, including Twinkies and Big Macs, are all processed in a factory to give it a taste we Americans enjoy. By processing many foods we loose the vitamins and minerals that originally came in the natural food. Comparing our diet to the Polish diet, Poland has a much healthier choice of diet.

  1. Yeah I think it's sad how Americans are moving more toward processed foods rather than natural foods. I feel like processed foods are just more accessible and advertised very often. Poland seems to be doing a very good job of making nutritional foods .

  2. I like how you gave a lot of information regarding what was in Polish food and the healthiness of it. I do agree with your stance on America and processed food.
