Japan food blog #3

One of the most frequently used foods in Japan is of course, rice! There are rice fields all over Japan. Rice is grown by planting the paddies in deep furrows, then flooded about 1/3 of the stalk height so no weeds grow, and then it is drained when they are ready to use fertilizer, and then the rice is ready! It is then sold by the sack full all around.
One of the most commonly used dishes for rice is the rice ball! In order to make it you need about a pound of white rice and you roll it into a ball, then you use dried plums to put in the middle (if wanted) and then wrap dried seaweed around the bottom to the top, and then to finish you add some salt. Then, your rice ball is all ready to be eaten! This dish is eaten as a snack or during any meal of the day.

  2. A great summary of how rice grows, but I think you need a little more information to provide.
