I chose to research the culture of Ireland. I chose this because my family is very Irish and I know a bit about the culture and its food already, but I would like to learn more. My favorite meal is a tie between chicken pot pie or our St. Patrick’s day meal consisting of corn beef, cabbage, and potatoes. I know they are big on celebrating St. Patricks day, since that is an Irish holiday, and that they are big meat and vegetable lovers. Irish food is usually very simple including the consumption of meat, cereals, bread, and potatoes at most meals. They also have four meals; breakfast, lunch, tea, and dinner. They have tea usually around 4:00 p.m. and this is to keep in tap with British customs. Ireland is in the far west of Europe, in the North Atlantic Ocean, west of the island of Great Britain. Many countries in the world have sizable Irish ethnic minorities. These ethnic communities identify in varying degrees with Irish culture, and they are distinguished by their religion, dance, music, dress, food, and secular and religious celebrations. My sister studied abroad in Ireland two years ago and she said it was one of the coolest experiences she has ever had. It was easy to communicate with people because they speak english, she had amazing food, and got to see really popular places all around the area.
I like that you included the map of Ireland! Nice touch!
ReplyDeleteI find it interesting that there are four meals instead of three, and that they consider tea a meal on its own! Thats so cool that your sister studied abroad in Ireland. Very interesting!
